We invite all young people to find their own special place of “belonging” in our “Church”. We issue this invitation through engaging, enthusing and exciting young people with a range of experiences and challenges which are firmly rooted in scripture and Church teachings, but which resonate in their own everyday lives.

We provide highly interactive activities, using appropriate popular culture, drama, music, dance and media, which enable us to meet young people where they are and journey with them as they explore, and begin to unravel, the mysteries of God and life.

Y7: Building CommunityY8: HeroesY9: Called To Be SaintsY10: Go! Do Not Be Afraid. Serve!

“Each one of us is the result of a thought of God. Each one of us is willed. Each one of us is loved. Each one of us is necessary” (Pope Benedict XVI).

This one-day secondary school retreat explores how each one of us in named, known and eternally loved by God. In recognising how much God loves us, we can then begin to see how He calls each of us to nurture the gifts and talents we have been blessed with so that we can use them at the service of the community; a community built on faith, hope and love

“Come, follow me” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).

This one-day secondary school retreat explores how God calls each of us, in spite of our weaknesses, to be His disciples. The first Apostles of Christ were not perfect human beings but broken individuals chosen by God to spread the Good News of salvation. This retreat naturally follows on from ‘Building Community’ and begins to look at examples of heroic men and women, such as St. Maximilian Kolbe, who have used their gifts and talents at the service of God and neighbour.

St. Paul writes at the beginning of his First Letter to the Corinthians, “To the Church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and called to be God’s holy people with, all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and well as ours…” (1 Cor 1:2).

This one-day secondary school retreat is a natural follow-on to ‘Heroes’ and explores the universal call to holiness that each Christian receives. The vocation to holiness will be considered through the lives of some well-known members of the Communion of Saints such as St. Teresa of Avila, St. Teresa of Calcutta and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Each person will be challenged to consider how they are part of the Communion of Saints as living members of the Body of Christ on earth, called to a life of greatness!

“Go! Do not be afraid. Serve!” was Pope Francis’ final message to three million young people at World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janiero.

“Do not be afraid” appears in the Bible 365 times – one for each day of the year! This one-day retreat is intended as a follow-up to the other three secondary school retreat days in which each participant is encouraged to go out into the world and make a difference for the Lord, trusting in God’s providential love and care despite the many fears and obstacles on life’s journey. The message that the Christian life is fundamentally one of service will be explored in depth.
